Wadebridge could get its first multi-storey car park. The Town council have been approached by a landowner prior to putting in a planning application to Cornwall Council.

The proposed multi-storey would be built on land at Polmorla road, Wadebridge.

The Cornish Guardian reported that "Town Councillors have not dismissed the idea."

It is ultimately a matter for planning to decide. However the idea has been welcomed due to the shortage of parking spaces in the town, particularly during the busy summer months as thousands of tourists flock to the town. A lack of adequate parking is seen to be an issue, with visitors being forced to drive elsewhere on very busy days.

Past plans for the disused site have included flats and shops but the environment agency has objected due to risk of flooding, which is no doubt why the landowner is looking at alternative uses for the land.

The area is currently in need of regeneration; it’s arguably the one area in the town that is a bit of an eyesore.

What do you think about a multi-storey being built in Wadebridge? Do you think it’s a good thing or a bad thing?

Is that road suitable for the mass amount of trafic to be going through it? (Just guessing where it might go) but isnt that road normaly a nightmare driving through as it is? Especially mid day, mid summer. It would however bring more customers to the shops that part of town.

Multistory car parks tend to be ugly, but they don't have to be. I would however like it if it was one of those ones where you pay on the way out. I never seem to have enough change so paying when you leave is great.
