STEPHEN KNIGHTLEY said he feels honoured to have been elected as Wadebridge mayor for the second year in a row.
He was nominated by councillor Elliot Osborne, who said: “Councillor Knightley has put his own personal stamp on the role of mayor. He has introduced several new initiatives including the monthly surgeries and youth council and I am keen to see him continue with these new projects.”
Mr Knightley said he was delighted to accept and said some of the key moments of the previous year had been the opening of the allotments, interaction with the public, especially through the monthly surgeries, the grants that the council had received thanks to the help of clerk Sue Lee to improve Egloshayle park and the introduction of bird boxes at Coronation Park.
He said: “It has been a delightful year and Jenny and I have really enjoyed it. There have been some difficult moments but you have to take them like all knocks on the chin and focus on the positive things.”
Councillor Tony Rush was re-elected as deputy mayor. He took over the role in November following the resignation of previous deputy Paul Tofi.
