After more than two years hard work and an anxious wait over the Summer break, students at Wadebridge school finally received their hard earned GCSE results today.

Many students gained all A* and A grades and special mention must go to Alex Bate, Tom Cox, David Drummond, Luke Vickery,  Jess Button, Mollie Erskine, Lily Jewell-Von Seggern, Megan Morphew, Abbie Myles, Kiah Phillips, Joellen Preece and Charlotte Stevens.

Head teacher Ms Yardley said, "We want to congratulate every student who has achieved such outstanding results and this extends to students in Years 9 and 10 who have also received some results today, as they have already embarked on GCSE courses. An outstanding school is not only judged on its examination results, but when students do this well, it is just reward for all the hard work undertaken by all staff and students."

"As a community we are very proud of every student at Wadebridge School and we want to thank all our parents and carers, for their support and stamina! This particular year group have set an incredible example to younger students with their work ethic and commitment and we look forward to continuing to build on this success when many students return in the 6th form."

A Level

Wadebridge School last week celebrated the fantastic achievements of their 6th form students. This year has seen a further rise in the number of A* grades awarded and at least a quarter of students overall achieved A* or A grade passes. The school celebrateed a 100% pass rate across all subject areas.

Excited students are now confidently planning the next step in their lives as they prepare for employment, training or accepting their University or College places.

Amongst the high achievers with at least 2 A* grades were Bethany Morphew who is going on to study Medicine, Hannah Cox, Human Bio Science, Heni Pentony, Psychology and Heidi Thomas, Quantity Surveying.

Ms Yardley said, "Other outstanding achievements embraced the whole school community with Mrs Ruth Davies, a member of the Support Team gaining an A* in Textiles. Mrs Davies studied with the 6th form students for 2 years, as well as keeping abreast of all her other responsibilities including organising all the Work Experience placements for Year 10!"

"Another great success came in Year 8 with Will Brebner, an outstanding Mathematician, gaining A grades in all his AS Maths modules."

"We know how hard all students, their families and members of Staff have had to work in order to reach this level of achievement.  Every student is an individual and valued by the whole Wadebridge community and we should all be very proud of these young people as they move onward."

Congrats to all the students. I hope they managed to enjoy the day without giving much heed to television coverage - exams are easier, too many A*'s, growing gender gap etc etc
