Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network is attracting notice from further afield. Sir Graham Watson, Lib Dem Euro-MP and Chairman of the Climate Parliament, an organisation of legislators from across the globe committed to combating climate change, met with the Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN) on Monday 18th July to find out more about the network and how they could benefit from potential EU funding streams.

Wadebridge Mayor Stephen Knightley, Councillor Harry Wild, Sir Graham Watson, Professor Catherine Mitchell and Stephen Frankel, discuss the prospects of WREN becoming a pilot for a new model for the low carbon economy
Sir Graham was also keen to see how the organisation could be emulated elsewhere in the UK and Europe.
Commenting, Sir Graham said, "I have been extremely impressed with the work WREN has done in not only harnessing the benefits of renewable energy, but also in taking the initiative to set up a self sustaining town. I and the Chair Stephen Frankel hope that the WREN template can be exported to other communities who wish to decide for themselves how their community is powered without outside interference."
"'Renewable energy and action on climate change are at the top of the coalition government and Europe's agenda right now. We must reward the work WREN and the people of Wadebridge have done so far to ensure they can become a fully self sufficient town with funding for further projects."
The WREN programme is described on www.wren.uk.com.
