Police warning of distraction burglaries in Wadebridge area

Officers are investigating a number of reports of distraction burglaries received in Mid and West Cornwall from Friday 25 November 2011.

The reports received are of males calling purporting to be from the water board claiming to be tracing water leaks or claiming to be tracing a gas leak.

Whilst one has distracted the resident the other has stolen cash. All residents called on have been elderly.

At this time we cannot say if all the reports have the same offenders. We are making all residents aware as these males could travel.

Please be suspicious of any unexpected callers and never let anyone into your property whose identity you are not certain of. If you believe you have suspicious persons calling at your door please phone 999 and if possible make a note of descriptions and vehicle registrations, please phone 101 if you have any information.
