The South West is back on amber alert for severe weather on Thursday, the second alert in the space of a week.

The Met Office warns of persistent and at times heavy rain accompanied by gales and locally severe gales, already affecting western parts of northern England and much of Wales, that will extend into parts of southwest England during Wednesday night. The rain will clear to the south early on Thursday, but the public should be aware of the continued risk of localised flooding due to rising river levels well into the day.

The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/links.html
