More than a thousand people turned out to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Wadebridge today.

Wadebridge Town Council laid on a day of fun at Egloshayle Playing Fields to mark Her Majesty's six decades on the throne.

And the patriotic spirit was clear to see as crowds of people descended on the event to celebrate the special occasion.

Activities on offer today included a dog show, duck race, bouncy castles and queen choosing.

Brian Osborne, who was there with the Wadebridge Army Cadet Force, said: "It's been great, from watching the little kids getting their faces painted to the adults enjoying a drink. We've been here since 10:30am and we've been on the go all day.

"It's great to see the whole community get together  like this."

The dog show seemed to be a particularly popular event, with both owners and dogs getting into the party spirit by sporting patriotic accessories.

Jasmine Trebilcok, seven, proudly showed the family Labrador Odin, who won first prize for "most beautiful eyes" and third for "best behaved".

Mum Lindsay said: "Jasmin's also going to be in Miss Wadebridge and Miss Jubilee. It's a lovely day out."

The celebrations will continue into the night. The evening entertainment begins at 7pm with music from local bands and at 9pm The Swing Empire will perform until 11pm.
