Janie has lived in Cornwall since 2005 where she exhibits her work and teaches textiles and 3D mixed media for Cornwall Adult Education.
Her work incorporates many textile techniques: mark making, drawing and collaging in mixed materials, including print making.
Recently Janie has been working on ideas about 'holes'. The structural holes that appear in garments as they are worn out and are stitched back together as a metaphor for the holes that appear throughout life and it's relationships, some of which can be repaired and some of which cannot.
Janie said, "I started experimenting with the nature of 'holes', emotional and physical, how they are both there and not there. I've also been looking at the way that the tide is constantly deconstructing the beach and putting it back together again around a range of fixed objects. There and then not there."
